Since 1992, we have prided ourseleves in upholding quality above all else.

1984: Firm foundations.

Simon Johnson sets up Simon Johnson International, designing and manufacturing rowing boat parts and accessories.

1992: New beginnings.

The first catamaran is built in our workshop near Henley-on-Thames. The hulls are built of Kevlar® sheet material.

1993: Specialist.

SJI focuses on building catamarans only, no longer boat parts, whilst also coaching professionally.

1994: State-of-the-art.

SJI reconceives its catamarans of roto-moulded trilaminate polypropylene. Quality, durability, reliability, strong and lightweight.

2000: Project Oarsome.

The Amateur Rowing Association gives funding for 30 SJI catamarans to be allocated to British clubs.

2010: Cutting-edge.

We are rebranded Rowing Solutions Ltd, specialising in the design, development and manufacture of catamarans.

2014: Sustainable.

We launch the new RS CAT16 with unique dreadnought reverse-bows and new formula roto-moulded tri-laminate polyethylene.

2015: Prestige.

Henley Royal Regatta uses our RS CAT16 TV Catamaran to film 660 races for worldwide TV coverage.

2019: Eco-friendly.

Our first electric RS eCAT16 is sold to the Slovenian National Rowing Federation.

2020: Global.

Our RS CAT16 Catamarans are sold in 23 countries around the world.

2024: Multi-Purpose:

The Johnson family continue to develop ideas and prototypes for the catamaran’s multi-purpose applications, particularly for water waste management and alternative energy solutions.

2023: Pan American Games.

Our global presence fully realised in Santiago at the PanAm Games Regatta, showcasing an entire fleet of our electric catamarans.
